Tendonitis and RSI
Osteopathy delivers long lasting relief from tendonitis and RSI
Tendonitis and repetitive strain injury (RSI) are normally the result of overuse of a part of the body. Tendonitis is inflammation of a tendon, which is a band of strong connective tissue that attaches muscle to bone.
Common symptoms of tendonitis include pain that may be:
- Dull and aching,
- Sharp,
- Burning, or Radiating
Repetitive strain injury or RSI is a range of painful or uncomfortable conditions of the muscles, tendons, nerves and other soft tissues. RSI is usually caused by repetitive use of a certain part of the body, often somewhere in the upper limbs (arms). Both RSI and tendonitis commonly take much longer to heal than other types of injuries.
Common parts of the body that may be affected by tendonitis or RSI are the:
- Elbow – commonly known as Tennis Elbow or Golfers Elbow and often restricted to one elbow (depending on whether you are left or right handed)
- Wrists – commonly the result of excessive keyboard use
- Rotator Cuff – injuries of the shoulder
- Achilles – pain at the back of the heel
